August Rum of the Month | Don Q Gran Reserva Anejo XO

This Don Q Gran Reserva Rum has a nice deep golden color with a nose of brown sugar, toasted marshmallow, vanilla, and baking spices.

Two different processes are merged to make the finished product. Newly made rum is placed into charred American white oak barrels, often using secondhand barrels from the bourbon distilling process and aged for 1 year. Rums aged in the Solera method for between 9 and 12 years are blended. The process of Solera means the oldest rums are on the bottom of the stack, once some is taken from these casks, it gets filled up again with rum from the stack laying on top. These casks are called Criaderas or Nurseries.
